Young pianists performed to help fight child cancer

On 5 July, our supporter, pianist Aleksei Demchenko presented the 3’rd edition of Kids for Kids, a charity concert in aid of Gift of Life in London and a great example of volunteer fundraising for a good cause.

Young talents aged seven to 13 years old played a selection of classical pieces by Tchaikovsky, Schubert, Schumann and many other celebrated composers. For some of the young volunteers it was the first ever public performance.

‘I have always aspired helping people in challenging life situations through art, especially children. It is wonderful that very young musicians support this idea of helping others and being goodwill ambassadors. This is how the Kids for Kids charity concert in its third year has become a regular fundraiser in aid of children with cancer,’ said Aleksei.

The performance raised awareness about the challenging situation with access to the most modern and effective cancer medications in Russian clinics. Once the fundraiser is finished, the funds will add to the Gift of Life’s monetary reserve which enables the charity to cover urgent applications for cancer treatments. Since 2011, Gift of Life has managed to support over 630 such applications helping more than 520 seriously ill children.

The concert has been made possible thanks to the generous support of Music Masters and Karma Sanctum Soho hotel.
