Festive Volunteer Workshops in Support of Gift of Life

In December, our community came together through a series of volunteer-led creative workshops in support of Gift of Life, proving once again that kindness, creativity, and shared purpose can make a real difference.

Kiira Grintsak hosted her first crochet workshop for beginners, inviting participants to learn how to create festive handmade decorations while supporting children battling cancer. Open to all skill levels, the workshop was filled with warmth, patience, and joy. Thanks to Kiira and everyone who took part, the event raised €300, with all proceeds donated to Gift of Life.

The workshop was hosted at Studio Gallery K28, Tallinn, with additional support from volunteer crochet teachers and photographers who generously donated their time and skills.

At the same time, Valeriya Voronkina led festive, reflective craft workshops focused on garland-making and printmaking. Hosted at Camberwell College of Arts, these sessions combined hands-on creativity with moments of reflection and community connection at the end of the year. The workshops welcomed participants of all ages and experience levels and raised £100, helping fund life-saving medication for children supported by Gift of Life.

Both initiatives were entirely volunteer-led and organised independently in support of the charity. They remind us of the powerful impact that small, heartfelt actions can have when people come together for a meaningful cause.

Valeriya and Kiira are members of a creative collective currently developing a project in support of Gift of Life that explores the role of art in supporting children through serious illness. The project is conceived as a visual, music-led performance for young audiences, addressing themes of resilience, humour, connection, and hope during times of uncertainty. Through this work, the artists aim to open a sensitive dialogue about childhood cancer beyond stigma and clichés, using art as a way to face fear, find light, and build solidarity.

We are deeply grateful to Kiira, Valeriya, all participants, venues, and volunteers who helped turn creativity into hope for children fighting cancer.
