Singing and humour saves lives!

£229,000 was raised for children fighting cancer in Russia at the concert of Semyon Slepakov in aid of Gift of Life in London on International Workers’ Day.

On Sunday night, 1 May 2017, Gift of Life hosted an exclusive concert at the Under the Bridge music club. Starring celebrated Russian singer, songwriter, stand-up comedian and resident of the “Comedy Club” TV show Semyon Slepakov, the evening raised money for young patients with cancer and serious blood diseases in Russian hospitals.

Semyon sang all his hit songs, some of which have had millions of views on YouTube, cheered the guests with jokes and sketches, and stressed that the evening is all about helping kids who struggle to fight with serious illness on their own. Hosted by Chulpan Khamatova, co-founder of our sister charity Podari Zhizn in Russia, the sold-out performance was followed by a live charity action. The auctioned proved to be a great success, with unique, money-cannot-buy lots kindly donated by Roman Abramovich, Chulpan Khamatova and Sovremennik Theatre, Mikhail Barishnikov and Alexandrina Markvo.

Through joint effort of all guests, donors, sponsors, volunteers and friends of the charity the evening raised in excess of £229,000. Thanks to the generous support of Roman Abramovich, ALMA MATER Foundation and Aeroflot Russian Airlines all money raised will go directly to the children under the care of Gift of Life.

These children receive cancer treatments, life-saving surgeries and vital medications as part of the Podari Zhizn foreign programmes supported by our charity. To get help from Gift of Life is the only way to be cured for many such patients if they need an expensive foreign medicine like Erwinase or Adcetris.

Public donations help the charity to save more children’s lives year on year. If you would like to donate, please visit:
