Ilnur is fourteen years old, and he lives in a beautiful little village not far from Chelyabinsk, surrounded by forests and rivers. He has a large, close-knit family which lives in a village house with its own garden, a cat, a dog and a cow. Ilnur is an excellent student. His favourite subjects are maths and physics, and he has won prizes in olympiads for them.
Ilnue fell ill in January 2012 – he had a lasting fever, lost sensation in half of his face, and started to grow weaker by the hour, unable even to eat. Because Ilnur lives in a small village, it took time for him to be diagnosed correctly. At last, he was brought to the Chelyabinsk city hospital, where treatment commenced – only to discover that Ilnur was allergic to Asparginase. As a result, Ilnur needed Erwinase, and received 12 packs of it bought with funds gathered by the Gift of Life foundation.
Ilnur has completed a full course of Erwinase treatment, followed by a course of radiation therapy. He is currently still in hospital, but now undergoing rehabilitation. His doctors are extremely pleased with the results of the treatment and would like to express their tremendous gratitude for the Erwinase to all our donors.
