Evelina Bykova was 15 years old, and lived in the distant city of Vladivostok. She was a very talented girl. Before she fell ill, she used to play the violin every day and won musical competitions.
Evelina was diagnosed with an acute lymphoblastic leukemia, and she became upset that she could no longer play the violin due to the lack of strength. On beginning treatment, it became clear that Evelina was allergic to the standard chemotherapy medication, Asparaginase. In order to challenge the disease, Evelina instead needed 15 packs of Erwinase. The necessary money was collected, and Evelina received the fighting chance she needed.
Unfortunately, sometimes all the effort in the world isn’t enough. On the 22nd of July, Evelina passed away. We wish her parents strength and serenity in this time of grief.
