Gift of Life foundation annual report

Dear friends,

It has been a year since the Gift of Life foundation commenced operations. In that year, we have managed to achieve a great deal together. Our foundation was originally created to collect funds for the medicine Erwinase, which is not registered in Russia, for children undergoing treatment in Russian clinics. We have fulfilled this task with flying colours: in one year we’ve helped more than 20 children. These are boys and girls from various parts of Russia, from many different families, each with his or her own story, but with one common misfortune – acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. These children were beyond the help of medicines available in Russia. All of them needed Erwinase to save them. Thanks to your compassion and generosity, each of these children received the medicine they desperately needed.

In total, Gift of Life spent £372,627 on Erwinase in 2012. A significant part of these funds – £330,000 – was gathered at the very beginning of the foundation’s work, at the charity evening celebrating its opening. Thank you very much to all our guests that night!

We would also like to express our heartfelt gratitude to those who supported us and our charges over the course of the year, participated in our events and celebrations, donated money to our foundation directly at our events or transferred it to our account.

Dear friends, we would like to tell you about the children you helped. These children are very seriously ill, and they become our charges because they are beyond standard treatment. To our great sorrow, not all of them could be saved. But none of them passed away because they could not be helped in time. Each of them received all the help they possibly could. We rejoice for those who recovered, and remember those who did not. You can read about the children we helped here.
